How to Add a Custom Field

In this Article, you'll learn how to add a Custom Field to your holdings

Updated over 11 months ago

Custom Fields allow you to add columns to the Holdings Table and populate them with values of your choosing. The demonstration video below contains a screen-recording that details the steps for adding and populating a Custom Field column on the Holdings Table. Here are the accompanying steps:

  1. Navigate to the Holdings Table and select any entry in the Holdings Column

  2. In the overview page for the selected holding, navigate to the Info tab and scroll down to the Additional Information section

  3. In the Additional Information section select Add New Custom Field

  4. Selecting Add New Custom field will trigger a pop-up window where you can title the new Custom Field

  5. After saving the new Custom Field, it will appear in the Additional Information section

  6. At this point, you can navigate back to the Holdings Table and add the new Custom Field column using the More Actions & Edit Columns buttons in the top right of the table

  7. Finally, to populate the new Custom Field click into a hyperlinked entry in the Holdings Column and enter the desired value into the new Custom Field box, in this case the box titled Test Custom Field, in the Additional information section

  8. After clicking save in the bottom right, this value will appear in the Holdings Table

These fields can be used to add additional clarity to an investment type or track any metrics that are not currently included in the holdings table. We've seen users leverage this to denote the location of Real Estate holdings, record internal IDs, and record investment thesis categorization β€” the functionality is easily applied to match your needs. You can add as many custom fields as you would like, but always feel free to send us an email (support@arch.co) and we can make the updates on our end.
