How Does Arch Handle Tax AIV/Side Pockets?

In this article, you will learn how Arch handles tax AIV/Side Pockets

Updated over 10 months ago

As you become familiar with the Tax Documents Page, you will start seeing different types (K-1, K-3, 1099, PFIC, etc.) and numbers of line items for each investment you track through Arch. Depending on the location, structure, type of investment, and other factors, a single holding can release 1 document or even 20+ documents.

For example, you may see one Federal K-1 released for an investment along with 4 separate State K-1 line items for the same investment. Or, you might see a PFIC and Form 8865 for the same investment across 2 different line items. Each line item represents a Tax Document that you are expecting a final version of, so Draft and Estimated versions are viewable by selecting "Details", as they do not take up separate line items.

So, how does Arch Handle AIVs & Side Pockets?

In order to account for multiple AIVs and/or Side Pockets, we create separate line items and add the AIV name based on the document.

In the above example, all 4 K-1s can be found under the same investment in Arch, if you are looking for documents through the individual holdings. However, the 4 separate documents are given their own line items on the Tax Documents page.

Please reach out to your Arch operations team or support@arch.co if you have questions. Additionally, feel free to share any known AIV/Side pocket names within your holdings, so we can know which line items to create ahead of time and improve collection accuracy!
